Time out in Salzburger Land: What does a family vacation at Schlosspark Grubhof really feel like? In this lively experience report, we take you on two varied weeks full of nature, excursions, hikes and little adventures – all from the experiences of a family with children. Be inspired and discover what can make your next vacation unforgettable!
Arrival and first arrival
After a relaxed arrival, we were warmly welcomed in the modern and cozy Mitterer vacation apartments in Schlosspark Grubhof. Our apartment was well laid out, with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains – the perfect start to our family vacation.
Relaxation and adventure right on your doorstep
On the very first day, we used the idyllic castle park for a short walk and to run around on the meadows. Our child was particularly happy about the direct access to the park grounds and the nearby stream, which invited him to build a dam.
The next morning, we set off on a family-friendly hike to the Loferer Alm (tip: the cable car takes little hikers to the top in comfort, free of charge for us with the guest card). There we enjoyed the panorama while our son romped around in the large adventure playground. After the descent, we rewarded ourselves with a refreshment stop and regional delicacies at a hut – by the way, we got inspiration for further excursions from your website.
Sport, wellness and home office comfort
On rainy days, we used the fitness room and the indoor pool in the house – a big plus for families! While Dad worked in his “home office in the mountains” one morning, I took our son on a trip to the Salzburg Open-Air Museum, which was a hit with young and old alike.
Adventure and excursion tips in the surrounding area
In the second week, we explored Salzburger Land by e-bike, which we were able to hire directly in the village. A particular highlight was the day trip to the Grossglockner, where we spotted marmots and marveled at the spectacular mountain landscape.
Also recommended: a city stroll in Salzburg with a visit to the Hohensalzburg Fortress and the old town – ideal for combining culture and culinary delights. The Vorderkaserklamm natural swimming area was also particularly exciting.
Culinary delights and regional diversity
Thanks to the bread roll service at the hotel, we had a relaxed start to the day every morning. We also tried out various restaurants – we particularly remember the homemade “Kasnocken”.
